We're in Texas And the Signs Amuse Us

March, 2006
We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto!
This great-tailed grackle provides advice.
The sign is at the beginning of a boardwalk, bird-watching area.

We were off to Laredo. Along the way we passed a prison.  It looked like a privately owned one, but they cautioned us:

We drove past mile after mile of fenced ranches.  Then we came to a couple of levees near the Rio Grande.

We weren't exactly sure what PULIC recreation is, but we were surprised that no one had altered the spelling!

On the beach in South Padre Island, the sign warns against littering.

In the Anacosta Laguna National Wildlife Reserve, you have to be careful.

I figure the Redwing Blackbird  is hoping for free protection.
It  certainly is not endangered!

We made sure to stay on the walkway after seeing this sign!

The town square in San Ygnazio was ringed with memorial benches.  Nice.

But my favorite sign marks the traffic speed control.
