Beautiful gardens.  Spectacular flowers
There are gardens and flowers everywhere.
These were both at the botanical garden and at the butterfly garden.
We were fascinated to see pinks, yellows, and purples on the same plant.
It's lantana.
I think it may not be able to be grown as far north as we live.
But it sure is lovely.
~
The botanical gardens are small, but neat.
There were three orchids, including this one.

The desert area had several plants that were new to us.
Including some that looked like tarantulas.
Strange.
We think this is related to Cousin It.
It emerges as a stalk with a pink top (far right), and eventually looks hairy.

The flower, or is it a seed-pod, is very interesting.

Near the Air and Space Museum is a huge planting of peppers.  Aren't they lovely!

In front of the Museum of Natural History is petrified wood.

This is a lobster claw plant, in a garden behind the Smithsonian Castle.

There appears to be a great deal of variety in this coleus "Fishnet Stockings"
If you wanted to grow some, plant lots, because some end up mostly green, and some end up mostly purple.

We brought bug repellant, expecting lots of biting bugs, but except for a few bees and this guy, we haven't seen or felt any.

We love to hear from people.
